WYD 2008 is happening July 15-20 in Sydney, Australia with the theme "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses." (Acts 1:8)

The Archdiocese of San Francisco has planned a Northern California pilgrimage with the Dioceses of San Jose, Oakland, Reno and Sacramento for single and married young adults ages 18 to 35.
World Youth Day 2008 Itineraries:
July 8-22, 2008 - 17 days, 14 nights pilgrimage to ChristChurch, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia.
Land-Only Option - July 14-22, 2008 includes budget hotel, WYD registration fees, most meals. You must get yourself to the hotel in Sydney. Airfare not included.
- July 8th, 2008: Depart San Francisco Int’l Airport for Auckland, New Zealand
- July 9th: Crossing the International Date Line
- July 10th: Arrive Auckland, fly to ChristChurch
- July 10th – 14th: Days of Encounter – stay with host families in ChristChurch, New Zealand
- July 14th: Fly to Sydney, Australia and check into hotel. Formula One - 201 William Street in Kings Cross. Tel: 011 612 9326 0300. Tour of Sydney. Mass at St. Canice Parish at 28 Roslyn Street in Elizabeth Bay at 6pm. Dinner at 7pm.
Land-Only Pilgrims join us at hotel.
- July 15th: World Youth Day ceremonies begin with opening Mass this afternoon
- July 16th - 18th: Morning Catechesis, afternoon and evening festivals, Pope Welcome, Way of the Cross
- July 19th: Pilgrimage to location of evening Vigil with the Pope. Sleep overnight under stars. Sleeping bag suggested.
- July 20th: Morning Mass with our Holy Father, pilgrimage back to hotel, free evening in Sydney.
- July 21st: Free day in Sydney. Optional tour to Blue Mountains.
- July 22nd: Depart Sydney for San Francisco
Pope Benedict XVI spoke about the themes for the next three World Youth Days (2006, 2007, 2008) in a message from the Vatican on the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter the Apostle, February 22, 2006. World Youth Days 2006 and 2007 will be celebrated in the local Churches, and WYD 2008 will be celebrated by the universal Church in Sydney. WYD 2006 will be celebrated in the United States on Oct. 29, 2006 with the theme “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119 [118]: 105) The theme for WYD 2007 is “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” (John 13:34)
