Silent Men's Retreat: The Deep Days of Lent |
| Description |
The Deep Days of Lent, Silent Retreat for Men, including Knights of Columbus. As winter draws to a close, we prepare our hearts for Easter. We will enter prayerfully into the gospels and will share in the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, keeping in mind all who need healing. Fr. Thomas C. Weston, S.J., has been involved in 12-Step Programs since 1976. A former Director of the Jesuit Volunteers Corps and a teacher at Loyola High School in Los Angeles, he has degrees and experience in counseling, education and theology. He counsels, conducts workshops and seminars, and preaches retreats internationally and often. He lives and gardens in Oakland, California. Assisting: Fr. Emmanuel Foro, S.J., is a priest from the West Africa Province of the Jesuits. Emmanuel Foro is studying for a doctorate at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. He has interest in human growth in the God-give freedom to love and to serve with delight. St. Ignatius Loyola and Fr. Bernard Lonergan, S.J., have made a significant mark on Fr. Foro’s biblical culture and his approach to Church tradition. He has an experience of campus ministry in Yaoundé/Cameroon and Parish ministry. Sr. Patricia Galli, R.S.M., has Masters degrees in Counseling and Organizational Development and in Theological Studies. She has been a spiritual director for 20 years and a supervisor of spiritual directors. Ken has wide experience of the Asia/Pacific area and has enjoyed travel for meetings to most countries of East Asia and Pacific. He is interested in the relationship between science/evolution and faith, and he enjoys golf. During the Fall, Fr. Ken was on sabbatical at Boston College. Bro. Thomas Koller, S.J. first came to The Jesuit Retreat Center over 40 years ago while discerning his own vocation to religious life; so he comes full circle with this present asignment. Most recently Brother was stationed for 12 years at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco, working in school administration, and moderating some student activities. Earlier he was assigned as part of the staff of Father General in Rome, where he assisted Father General at the American Assistancy desk. He also spent many years as manager at the now closed Novitiate Winery in Los Gatos where, for almost a century, the California Jesuits produced sacramental and commercial wines as a means of support for the young Jesuits in formation for California Province.
