Mary Jansen is the Director of the Office of Young Adult Ministry and
Campus Ministry for the Archdiocese of San Francisco. She has worked in
young adult ministry since the founding of the office in 1999.
Prior to working for the Catholic Archdiocese, Mary worked in marketing
and public relations in the human resources and technology industries.
Mary, a Southern California native, is a graduate of the University of
California at Irvine with a bachelor's degree in English Literature and a
Marketing Communications Certificate from the UCI Graduate Studies Program.
After moving to the Bay Area in 1996, she become reacquainted with her Catholic
faith and became involved in parish young adult ministry. In 1997, she was on
the first volunteer planning team for Fall Fest, our annual young adult
conference. She earned her Masters in Theology from the University of
San Francisco in May 2004.
She participated in the Ignatian Spiritual Excercises in the summer of 2004
at the Jesuit Retreat Center in Los Altos. Yes, Mary was silent for 30 days!
She is on the Board of Directors for the National Catholic Young Adult
Ministry Association (NCYAMA) and is the liaison for the Hibernian
Newman Club in San Francisco. She has brought young adults to World Youth Day,
an international pilgrimage for Catholics age 18 to 35, in Italy, Canada and
Germany. Mary enjoys the opera, traveling, meeting new people and laughing out loud.
